Our story
It started with one museum's request for a climate control unit that met strict conservation standards.
1984
A request from the Royal Ontario Museum
Jim Forrestall, head of the physical plant at the ROM, asked Al Jacobs to develop a climate control unit that met the museum's conservation requirements.
1985
The first microclimate generator
After a year of research and testing, Al Jacobs patented the first microclimate generator, and the ROM placed an order for 80 units.
1992
Smarter control
Jeff Mak joined the team and advanced the technology, adding temperature compensation and data logging.
1993
Climate control for whole galleries
Museums needed to condition many cases across large spaces, so we developed and sold our first large-scale central system.
